It’s no wonder I love color so much. I grew up surrounded by art & design & color & plants. Here’s a corner inside my mom’s house (where I grew up!) that I love.
I moved in with my mom a few years ago (she’s getting old, I didn’t want her to be living alone anymore).
The painting? My uncle’s. He made lots & lots of them and I grew up surrounded by his art.
The chair? My dad, the architect, liked to have a smattering of famous architectural design around the house.
The quilt? American classic. Not sewn by anybody in my family but collected by one of us and admired by all.

The indoor plants? My mom, the artist gardener. She couldn’t live without her garden. In the winter when there’s zero gardening to be done in this climate, she brings what she can indoors. Finally, the weather is warming up so these babies are going to be hauled outside soon!
The ceramic blue urn? Thanks to my mom, again. She’s a prize-winning gardener and also a ceramicist. Although this is not her work, it is by a ceramicist she admires.
My contiribution? The styling! (Pushing around chairs, re-hanging paintings on different walls, re-arranging items…but not so much as to drive my mom batty! LOL)
What about you? Were you surrounded by colorful stuff when you were a kid?
